What We Will Tell You On The Phone, Free
We would rather spend ten minutes on a call that ends with us telling you not to spend money than win a job you did not need. These are the answers we give away.
- Whether you need a full sand or just a recoat. If the finish is worn but the wood underneath is not grey or scratched through, a screen and recoat costs a fraction of a full refinish and keeps the wear layer for later. Plenty of floors we are called to sand do not need sanding.
- Whether the cupping is a floor problem or a house problem. If it comes and goes with the season, sanding it flat in winter will produce a crowned floor the following August. The crawl space is the job, not the boards.
- Whether your engineered floor can be refinished at all. Many have a wear layer under 2mm, which means it cannot. We will tell you that rather than sand through it.
- Whether to wait. If you are three months from a renovation, a kitchen going in, or a tenant moving out, coating the floor now is money spent twice. We will say so and put a note in the diary instead.
